Margreet Dietz is the author of four non-fiction books, A Hundred Reasons to Run 100km, Running Shoes Are a Girl’s Best Friend, Powered From Within: Stories About Running & Triathlon and A Work in Progress: Exercises in Writing. 

She also wrote a book of poetry, Sunshine on a wooden floor.  One of the poems from Sunshine on a wooden floor was selected for an anthology of verse, titled Island Mists, published by the Poetry Institute of Canada in January 2011.

Her latest book is From my Mother, a novel.

Her books are in public library collections in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the U.S.

Margreet has worked with other authors on publishing their books: Graham E. Fuller's Three Truths and a Lie (September 2012), Timothy Moore's Sub Nine: History's Fastest Ironwomen (April 2011) and Teresa Rider's Reconnect With Food: Eat Your Way to Triathlon Success (May 2011).

Born in the Netherlands in 1970, Margreet has been a professional (anglophone) journalist since 1996. Margreet reported for Bloomberg News from Brussels, Toronto and Sydney, and worked as a copy-editor at The Australian Financial Review in Sydney.

The stories she wrote for Bloomberg News have been published in newspapers worldwide, including in the International Herald Tribune, Globe and Mail, The Vancouver Sun, National Post, The Australian Financial Review, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, New Zealand Herald, Seattle Post-Intelligencer and De Tijd.

Margreet's articles on running and triathlon have appeared in endurance sports magazines in Australia and Canada since 2006.

In 2005 she received a Diploma with Distinction in Book Editing & Publishing from Macleay College in Sydney.

Margreet also holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a master’s degree in International and Comparative Law. She's an NCCP Trained Community Coach (Triathlon) and successfully completed the Canadian Fitness Education Services' Fitness Knowledge Course.

The five-time Ironman finisher, with a personal best of 11:12, has been focused on running since 2005. Still aiming to improve her marathon PB of 3:00:29, she ventured into ultra-running. She finished her first 50-mile trail race in August 2010 and her first 100km road race in November 2010, winning the 40-49 division in both.

She ran her second 50-miler in November 2011, four weeks after a 3:06 marathon and six weeks after a 3:09 marathon. The last 25K weren't pretty but her 7:57 finish was the fastest in the 40-49 division.

Margreet is the 2012 BC Half Marathon F40-44 champion, 2011 & 2012 BMO Vancouver Marathon and Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon women's top master, the 2011 Bellingham Bay Marathon and the 2009 North Olympic Discovery Marathon overall women's champion.
